WIMS PARENTS MEETINGS

January 17,2012 meeting cancelled due to poor weather and driving conditions. Guest speakers rescheduled for the March 20th meeting.

No meetings are scheduled for July or August, 2011 but will resume in September, 2011. Meetings will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month except in December. (Sept. 20th, Oct. 18th, Nov. 15th, Dec. 13th, Jan. 17th 2012, Feb. 21st 2012, Mar. 20th 2012, April 17th 2012, May 15th 2012, June 19th 2012).

February 21 WIMS meeting:

Are you wondering how to go about finding an appropriate school for your child? Who can you contact for some guidance when there are transitions to another school program?

Staff from the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre (OCTC), Carolynn Treffers and Jan Henneberry, Liaison Teachers and Lisa-Marie Loeffen, Social Worker will share information related to the supports their disciplines provide to you as parents as you investigate school options for your child. The Liaison teachers and Social Workers each facilitate the placement, acceptance and integration of students with physical and developmental disabilities into schools and they will be able to speak about their roles in supporting you in relation to school and answer questions you may have.

March 20th WIMS meeting: Guest Speakers from Children's Integration Support Services

Children’s Integration Support Services (CISS) is a bilingual program which provides support services to licensed nursery schools, day care centres, school age and home child care programs that integrate children who have special needs between the ages of six weeks and ten years of age in the City of Ottawa.

The CISS team supports programs, families and children by coordinating resources through effective partnerships to ensure a positive, inclusive child care experience.

Staff from CISS will share information on the services offered,referral and registration process and give a tour of their extensive resource library.
